Dis project wey dem unveiled for Akure get plenty stakeholders wey come, from traditional rulers to international development partners. E get as E fit change the life of those wey dey depend on cannabis cultivation. NDLEA chairman, Brigadier-General Buba Marwa, talk say na change from confrontational style to cooperative one. Dem wan help farmers transition to do legal farming instead!
Marwa talk say cannabis farming don put dem in poverty no be small, and na the big men dey chop money while the farmers dey suffer. But this new approach go help dem produce food and cash crops wey go fit sustain dem. E no be trap as some people dey fear; na better opportunity to live better life.
The governor of Ondo state, Dr. Lucky Ayedatiwa, come join body as e support the initiative. E promise to give land and seedlings make dem fit kpeg in this matter. E encourage the youth make dem no fall for drugs but rather grab dis golden chance. E sabi say na the youth go fit drive the development wey everybody need.
International partners like UNODC and other development bodies dey back this project, and dem don confirm say E dey align with best practices around the world. Traditional rulers too dey support am, as dem call on young people to fully embrace this programme. Olowo of Owo Kingdom, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye III, don warn about the serious consequences wey cannabis cultivation fit bring.
The project go kick off in three pilot communities for Ondo State. If the result sweet, dem fit expand am nation-wide. Na so dem go measure the impact chai!
