Omo, e don happen! NDLEA don carry serious step to help Ondo farmers wey dey grow cannabis. Dis one na better news for the community!
Last week, for Akure, Brig. Gen Buba Marwa (rtd) wey be the NDLEA Chairman, gather everybody wey get hand for the matter, sit down talk beta way wey go fit stop illegal cannabis cultivation for di state. E talk say dem go start wetin dem dey call Alternative Development Project (ADP) wey go help people wey dey grow Indian hemp shift to legit farming.
Marwa talk say, “This town hall meeting na to discuss how we go fit work together.” E call for community support, make dem no see una government like enemy. This na about partnership, no be to dey arrest people upandan every time!
E still talk say, “We sabi the connection between drugs and wahala for country. Boko Haram and bandits dey use drugs to carry out their operations. We wan change this narrative.” Na true talk be dat, o! If dem no dey grow cannabis, e go reduce crime for di area.
The Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, no just sit down fold hand. E don confirm say him dey ready to support dis better initiative. E even clear say, “We go collaborate with NDLEA to stop drug abuse for Ondo and Nigeria.” Alright, na wetin we like to hear!
Oba Ajibade Okunoye, wey be the Olowo of Owo kingdom, also show support. E talk say traditional rulers ready to join hand with NDLEA to fight drug abuse. E don see di negative impact of drugs on di youth dem and e dey call dem to join dis programme.
As e stand now, NDLEA dey plan to roll dis ADP nationwide, but dem go start am for these three pilot communities for Ondo. Dem don already gather evidence say drug use for Ondo dey high, around 17%, wey fit reach 400,000 people. Na serious matter sha!
Marwa no gree brush side di statistics; e talk say for di past five years, NDLEA don convict over 128 drug barons, and dem don seize tons of cannabis. Dis year alone, dem don apprehend plenty people wey dey involved for drug business.
Now wey government don show readiness to support di farmers for better crops, e go help cut down drug relationships with di Boko Haram and bandits wey dey hide for those cannabis farms. Na my prayer be say dis project go bring light to di community, so we no go dey hear wetin no get head or tail.
At the end of the day, e be like say change dey come, and we dey expect say with cooperation from all sides, una go fit turn dis situation around and find better ways to make money without violating di law. We dey watch how dis ADP go unfold!
