Na Federal Capital Territory Police Command dey shout make Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) shift their protest wey dem plan for February 3, 2026. Dem talk say security no dey okay, and dem dey fear say dem don get information wey show say some waka-waka people fit enter dem protest carry wahala come.
Na wetin be the matter? The police don’t catch wind say this protest wey dey happen na for FCTA workers wey don dey vex since January 19, wey go strike over unpaid salaries, promotion wahala, and bad working conditions. My people, NLC and TUC don announce say dem go gather for Federal Capital Development Authority, but police fit spoil all the jolly jolly for Abuja if things go south.
On top this wahala, the NLC and TUC don shout say dem no go gree to back down, despite the court wey don talk say the strike illegal and say make workers return to work. Na serious matter o! Dem dey call this protest ‘peaceful rally’, but police talk say dem sabi their constitutional rights, but dem go need to protect public safety by any means.
SP Josephine Adeh, wey be the Police Public Relations Officer, don still beg the NLC and TUC make dem think am twice about the protest. She talk say wahala no suppose brek out and say na to safeguard residents naim dem dey talk like this. Na court matter no dey sleep again, cos the National Industrial Court don put stop to all this protest matter.
Last-last, Justice Emmanuel Subilim don give order make NLC, TUC and others no carry protest happen until after dem settle the wahala officially.
As e be now, NLC Spokesman don talk say dem go still hold the protest, even though dem no hear from the court. E be like say NLC no send as the matter dey hot! Dem talk say dis rally no be to cause gbas gbos but to hightlight the sufferings of the workers under FCTA wey dey gree chop their money. Na wetin una go call this matter? Na true fight for rights shey?
Meanwhile, confusion dey because while police don dey warn, and court don talk say stop, NLC dey sharp like Akara wey too hot for ground. Dem no wan hear any of that court order and dey insist say dis protest go hold as planned. E wan be like Naija movie, my people! All eyes go dey on Abuja as this drama unfold.
