For the first time ever, women don outshine men for voter registration. Na so dem register 36,638 new voters, with 20,475 na women and 14,976 na men. Fia! Na women wey clear dem men for hustle.
Dr. Saad Idris, wey be de big man for INEC inside Gombe, yarn this beta news for stakeholders meeting wey dem hold for Gombe International Hotel. E talk say dem collect a total of 35,451 registrations for this phase inside Gombe alone. But wait oo, dis stat don still dey lag behind other northern states like Kano and Sokoto.
Dem also record plenty movements: 7,613 voter transfers, 9,031 corrections, and 1,383 Permanent Voter Card collections across di local government. Na wah! But no be only joy dem dey see, because Dr. Idris don vex say di registration figures dey low compared to other states.
To solve di wahala, INEC don plan beta strategy wey go involve 50 days of roaming registration for di 114 Registration Areas in Gombe. Two INEC personnel go carry dem Voter Enrolment Devices enter each area for 5 days. E go start from February 2, 2026. Na so dem go make sure sey everybody fit register properly!
But make I clear una, if you don register before, no try jam registration again o! You fit apply for replacement of lost cards or if you wan transfer location. Na illegal for you to go register multiple times – e dey waste time for you and other people wey wan do am correctly.
Dr. Idris don call every body, from political parties to traditional leaders, make dem join hands support di voter registration exercise. E talk say dis na collective effort wey go make sure sey security dey and peaceful environment dey for everyone. E also remind say credible election na di koko!
As dem dey prepare for Phase II, all eyes go dey on Gombe to make sure say dem get better figures and more participation. Fit una hear am, women don show say dem dey ready to shun wahala and stand gidigba for dem right.
