Grid Don Collapse Again! Na Wetin Happen?

Wetin dey happen for Naija power sector? Omo, I no fit believe say our national grid don collapse three times for less than 30 days! E be like say energy wahala no go end for dis country. Na wetin the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) dey talk so.

Francis Meshioye, wey be the big man for MAN, don hold meeting wey plenty people sabi as IRWG (Industrial Revolution Working Group) dey work on dis serious power matter. E talk say dem don dey try to fix the energy problem since e dey affect how factories dey run. E clear say if electricity no stable, wetin we go take do business? Na question of survival be dat!

Meshioye no hide im mind, e talk say electricity price dey change like wind and e make sense because grid don fail plenty times. “E no dey easy for manufacturers to manage cost when dem dey face dis kind wahala,” e yan. In 2025, we dey see some small hope but dis 2026 na wahala year again!

As e be now, dem no fit talk say everything dey okay again. Na twice in January alone grid don scatter! First on January 23 and again just recently. This one no be joke, na serious matter wey fit cause bad levels for our economy too. E get as wey we dey go back to darkness na strong hold nase!

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry DG, Dr Chinyere Almona, don shout say if dis grid collapses continue, e go affect plenty businesses, and the losses go dey plenty. She talk say business go dey waste production time, dem go dey spend money for self-generation of electricity, wey dey costly. E no sweet at all!

Almona still dey vex say the Federal Government suppose do proper investigation on how grid dey work and wetin dey cause all dis wahala. “Na time wey we need quick solution. No be just small fix,” she talk. The earlier dem approach dis problem na better for all of us o!

Talking about money, Segun Ajayi-Kadir wey dey lead MAN still talk say government need to check how DisCos dey operate. If dem no fit manage power well, how we expect business to grow? Na true, without electricity, Naija economy go dey suffer serious blows.

Electricity na key for manufacturing, na im dey affect everything wey concern cost and price. E get as e dey bi with dis constant increase for tariffs wey dey give manufacturers headache. We need light, and we need am now, not tomorrow!
