Na big news wey dey come from Abuja o! The Office of the Tax Ombud don pledge to protect Nigerians wey dey pay tax, and dem don set how dem go run the show. Dis one go make sure say taxpayers get fair treatment and no wahala for the system.

Dr. John Nwabueze, wey be the CEO of the Tax Ombud, yunno, he meet with some big boys wey carry the banner for the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms. These people dey talk about wetin dey happen for tax matters and how to improve things for everyone. Mr. Taiwo Oyedele lead the delegation, and together with Olusegun Adesokan from Joint Revenue Board, dem discuss serious matter.

Nwabueze no hide am—he talk say the office go act as di middle man wey go quench any issue wey taxpayers fit get. E go make sure say complaints dey handled well and in line with law. Na wetin people dey expect as dem dey talk say make tax compliance better.

“We go make sure sey our people sabi their rights and wetin dem suppose do regarding taxes,” Nwabueze talk, e no dey joke at all. Dem go also start public awareness campaign so that e go reach everybody, no more say people dey fall victim because dem no wan ask questions.

He also fit follow the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and other big players for the private sector, to make sure say everybody dey on the same page when e come to tax matter. This one na better step for improving di business environment in Nigeria.

Mr. Oyedele, wey carry the Presidential plan for tax reform, also yan say how dis new office go benefit everyone wey dey pay tax. E talk say if dis office no work well, di whole tax reform agenda go dey in jeopardy. Meaning sey wetin dem dey do get serious implications for how government dey interact with taxpayers—no be small matter!

Dem also yan about how to make Nigeria’s tax system strong as dem dey plan to strengthen cooperation among agencies wey dey handle tax. Na so e dey be, dey wan dey collaborative of those in di tax area to improve the whole setup, because we all know sey di trust of di citizens na di main thing.
