For one better event wey happen for Nigerian Correctional Service, Oke-Kura, Ilorin, the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Health, Dr Taoheed Abdullahi, gree say dem dey serious for dis leprosy matter. E talk say na awareness, early detection and community gathering go help finish am chop chop. Na im dem dey push “Leprosy Zero by 2030” globa drive wey everybody suppose join body to make e work.
As e be, this year theme na “Leprosy is curable, the real challenge is stigma,” and na true talk. People still dey fear leprosy like say e be death sentence, but wetin dem no sabi be say, e dey curable with proper medicine wey dem dey give free. Dr Abdullahi propose say make we no chop fear, make everybody dey open mouth to talk about leprosy wey dey cause wahala for many people.
For dis report, e come show say over 200,000 new cases dey happen every year across di globe, and na Africa dey carry big portion for dis load. Our reality no be joke o! Fear and wahala wey dey follow leprosy na wetin dey cause people to delay reach hospital, and e dey lead to unnecessary disability. Dr Abdullahi talk say make nobody dey hide matter wey dey affect dem, because wetin fit save your life dey very near!
Wetin Kwara State dey do? Dem don train over 500 primary health workers on how to catch leprosy early, and dem don share information materials wey go make people sabi di matter wella. Health service dey added to di routine outreach, and na im dey help people recover leg wahala wey dey come with leprosy. Na serious work be dis, and our Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq dey lead di way!
For di event, Assistant Comptroller of Corrections, Omole Olumuyiwa, wey represent di Nigerian Correctional Service, thank di state government for giving inmates free medical screening, treatment, and sensitization.
