Dis closure come from the state government as part of the order wey the governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, give. Dem memo wey reach PUNCH Online show say na as far back as January 20, dem don plan to close the school to protect students and staff.
According to the memo from Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, wey be the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, dis decision na to ensure say everywhere dey safe as strategy to stop any form of banditry, kidnap, and other criminal activities wey dey scatter the locality.
But no be everybody dey happy for dis decision oh! The opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), don use their mouth para, as dem claim say government don give up on security matter. Dem talk say closing down school no suppose be option, and e go just add more stress to the people for that area.
PDP dey vex as dem call dis closure “admission of failure.” Dem don raise finger say if government no fit secure lives for there, make dem just step aside make person wey fit handle am come chop the work!
As the level be now, dis closure dey join other moves wey Kwara government don take, like moving NYSC camp from Yikpata to Ilorin, and shutting down some schools wey dey face heavy wahala. People dey wonder how schools go dey shut down while markets and public places still dey operate like say nothing dey happen. Education suppose dey strong, but e no fit be casualty as dem dey fight for peace. If education no dey grow, wetin go happen to di future of di children wey dey hope for better life? Dem dey call for traditional rulers and other big men wey suppose speak out join body for dis matter.
