Na wah! FCT workers don carry their matter waka enter court, as dem don strike enter new level! Dis yawa start wetin we sabi as JUAC (Joint Union Action Committee) don vex well-well after dem conclude say dem no fit continue with dem wahala without some pressing issues wey need solve vex for dem.
Wike, wey be Minister of Federal Capital Territory, no wan hear any of dis palaver again and don carry dem go National Industrial Court for Abuja, make dem restrain the workers wey sabi picket and lock down any office again. But no be small drama wey happen. E be like say di court just dey play ping-pong with di case.
The problem wey make dis strike hot like pepper na five months of unpaid salaries and dem dey shout for long overdue promotion wey no show face. People no go calm down when dem dey owe dem like dat! Even as Wike dey insist say e don dey meet dem halfway, di workers dey vex say no true! Dem insist say di core issues wey dey ground still dey lag.
During di last hearing, Opara, di lawyer wey stand for di workers, don scatter ground talk say anything wey go make workers return back to work without pay na big risk. E even remind dem about di Supreme Court case wey show say no be wetin dem go fit do but rather, negotiation supposed take place.
Di court don set January 27 for ruling on top di matter. As e be so, if dem no find solution, tension go dey high as JUAC no gree back down. Workers dey march really serious as dem dey demand for Wike to just pack him bags comot.
As dey stage protest outside di court, staff backed by NLC (Nigeria Labour Congress) carry placards wey boldly write “Wike must go!”, “Abuja no be Rivers”, “Pay us our pension now” among others. You no go believe di level of support from different unions wey don join dis wahala. Teachers, Nurses, and Journalists dey among dem!
Dey accuse di FCTA leadership of neglect and abuse as dem dey cry for better working condition. E clear say no be today dis issues dey, and dem no wan hear any more promises again. Unions dey unite, and dem fit just turn dis wahala to serious matter if e no get better.
So we dey watch as di court get ready to decide if dem fit put an end to dis strike wahala or dem go allow di workers continue dem action. Tension dey build everyday as matter dey unfold. My mind dey for di workers wey just wan enjoy di fruits of dem labour without stress.
