Dami kpatakpata! Gidan Waya community for Kaduna dey suffer serious wahala as dem don pay N40 million ransom to bandits, but dem still no release 13 villagers wey dem abduct.
Chairman of Gidan Waya Elders Forum, Mallam Rabo Sambo, don come yarn for press conference say dem pay the ransom in January 2026 after bandits enter their community last November in the middle of the night.
He talk say during the attack, four people die and five get injuries as the criminals stormed their area, making everybody run scatter like say na movie scene. Sambo explain say the attackers wear mask, so nobody fit identify dem at all. Na wah!
After the attack, dem collect 13 villagers – five men and eight women – and carry dem go some where wey nobody sabi. As if na small thing, dem later contact the community come demand N40m for dem to release the people. So, wetin dem do? Dem sell over 3,000 bags of maize wey be their main food stock wetin dem dey rely on.
“When dem load the maize, everybody for the community dey cry,” Sambo talk. Dem use di money to pay ransom, believing say their people go soon come back home. But as dey dey talk now, other people dey suffer while the 13 dey still under bandits’ hold.
More than two months don pass since dem collect the money, but no sign of the villagers coming back home. Sambo dey vex say dem don expose their wahala to the media because dem no sabi if government even sabi wetin dey happen for their area.
“We don dey live for fear, hunger, and uncertainty,” he lament. Sambo don call for the state and federal government make dem intervene quickly to help them secure the release of their people wey dey suffer for captivity.
As we dey follow this matter, e no be only Gidan Waya wey dey chop this kind case; plenty don dey face wahala as dem just abduct over 160 worshippers for one church for Kaduna. The level of issues wey dey happen for our country self dey enter serious level! Make we keep our ears on ground.
