Na wah oh! Na so Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) don come blast Anambra Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, as dem dey prepare to open Onitsha Main Market on Tuesday, despite him order wey shut the market for one week. Wetin happen? Make we yarn.
Last Monday, Soludo face the traders for Onitsha, warning dem say na dem wahala wey cause the market closure. E no sweet am as traders no gree open for business during di state government sit-at-home order. Soludo no take am light, e talk say if traders no gree comply, dem fit extend di closure wahala. Security agencies don dey seal di market, don turn am to ‘no-go area’ for traders.
IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful, no find am funny at all oh! E don make clear say traders no need government support to run dem businesses. E yan say tomorrow, January 27, 2026, dem go open markets, say na di right of dem as hardworking people to hustle as dem like.
Powerful even remind Soludo say dem don survive tougher times before. Him talk about di three-year food blockade during di Nigeria-Biafra War, say Igbos be di most entrepreneurial ethnic group for Africa. Na reason dem no dey take nonsense in terms of dem rights, and dey always choose freedom and dignity over fear.
Di statement from IPOB carry weight; dem warn Soludo make e think well before him send soldiers to stop dem from doing dem business. Powerful talk say any form of harassment or arrest go meet serious resistance from dem. According to him, di people of Anambra dey demand action for di release of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, wey dem want as part of di peace agreement.
So now, di gist be say come Tuesday, e go show if di traders go stand gidigba for their rights, or dem go maintain di fear wey don dey hold dem for long. Di market na di heartbeat of Anambra economy, and wetin happen there go affect everybody dey!
Soludo don talk plenty about how traders dey sabotage di economy with di sit-at-home wahala, and dem dey plan to make sure say market no close again under any circumstance. E don put di traders on alert, say if dem no open next Monday, punishment go dey come! Na im we go dey look to see how dis drama go unfold.
As di weekend dey near, traders and buyers dey watch di situation closely. E go interesting to see how dem go carry dey market business come back, or who go win for di battle between government directives and di people’s resolve. No be small matter – dis one na hot topic for beer joint!
