E be say Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) don support indefinite strike wey workers for Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration dey organize. Why? Because of unpaid wages, promotion arrears, and dem no dey pay pension contributions. As dem start am on Monday, plenty offices for FCTA don dey scatter!
Workers don mean say management dey ignore their wahala for long o. Dem dey complain say salary dey delay and promotion wey dem suppose don collect since no show face. NLC President, Joe Ajaero, talk say the petition wey dem receive from Joint Unions Action Congress (JUAC) no be joke. This na serious matter, as dem dey suffer under wahala wey dem classify as capitalist oppression. How e go be when dem dey owe you five months salary and you dey expect to chop? Na wah!
Ajaero come drop more bombshell for statement wey he release, talk say this na pure attack on the livelihood of workers. E even mention say pension wey dem suppose dey remit since May 2025 don disappear like magic, making workers sabi say dem fit turn beggars when dem old. Wetin be this one? Capital accumulation by dispossession, my guy! E no make sense at all.
Meanwhile, as the workers dey strike, the FCTA officials dey talk say dem don dey address ten out of the fourteen demands wey unions bring. Lere Olayinka, wey be Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, talk say dem don solve some issues. But JUAC no gree; dem insist say no formal agreement don happen and wetin dem dey talk no dey check out.
The situation don dey hot as dem dey accuse FCTA management of intimidation. Reports don emerge say dem don dey ban staff from using phone and even carry some workers go jail. Wetin be this one? Na fascism? This na tactics wey dey try to scatter workers unity and silence dem. No go fit catch us like that!
NLC don give order tell all their affiliate unions to join the strike full-time. Dem even talk say on January 26, 2026, everybody gatz meet for National Industrial Court to air their grievances. Dem dey prepare for serious prayers and solidarity sessions from morning till evening across Abuja, calling am “continuous spiritual and moral assembly” to strengthen their resolve.
Even as this wahala dey happen, FCTA dey insist sey dem don start to pay those five months wage award wey dey overdue. Dem talk say health workers don collect hazard allowance, and promotion arrears wey dem approve last December dey on track. But JUAC dey follow back, talk say dem no fit use mouth talk say everything don balance, until every matter finish for ground.
NLC don warn say dis struggle no be only about labour issues again; e don turn to a serious fight for the common people against this insensitive government. Dem dey shout say make FCTA management and leaders hear am well, say the patience of the workers don finish. The labour body don promise to keep this fight alive until dem restore workers rights and dignity. This one na for we all!
