My people, e don taya o! Former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, don talk am clear, say military dey enter police matter too much. Na serious wahala wey dey happen for Nigeria now, as soldiers dey carry internal security for head when dem suppose dey protect us from external wahala.
Buratai drop this bombshell for Armed Forces Day lecture wey happen for Abuja, say na because police no get the strength and proper funding wey dem suppose get. As e stand now, police dey jaga jaga, while military dey overstretch dem. E no fit continue like this, my people!
Make we reason am well: police no fit security matter alone again, because government no gree support dem. Na why we dey see soldier for road dey check people instead of police wey sabi the work. Dis na clear sign say we need police reform, fast fast!
As e be, the military dey carry out policing jobs, e fit cause serious wahala. Soldiers dey use their combat training to tackle civil issues wey police suppose handle. And we all know say different training, different goals. If we no handle dis matter well, e go dey hard for police to gather intelligence or relate with community.
No be say na soldiers fault o, but dem dey react to the security wahala wey government no fit contain. If we continue dey depend on military for internal matters, we fit lose sight of wetin democracy mean. If common police no fit do the job, how we go fit trust dem again?
The current wahala wey dey happen, like Boko Haram and all dis bandits dey show say police need serious upgrade. Better funding, technology and training na wetin we suppose focus on. From drones down to better communication tools, make we invest for them!
No forget say wells na jaga jaga! Police stations dey suffer from lack of funding, plus officers dey manage on the smallest salary fit make dem wear slippers alongside their uniform! This no fit happen for obodo oyibo, so why e dey happen for Naija?
So wetin go happen now? Government need set deadline, like ONE YEAR, to withdraw military from inside security matter. Meanwhile, they ought to pour funds into police and equip dem with wetin dem need. If we no do am, na so we go dey see military for every corner, while police dey run from their duty.
