My people, make I gist you wetin dey happen for Naija wey dey comot mouth no be small. United Nations noi say as we dey enter 2026, nearly 35 million Nigerians dey face risk of hunger! E be like movie, but na reality wey dey happen! And dem talk say 3 million children don enter serious malnutrition wahala. How we go carry this one enter 2026? E fit make sense? No way!
For Abuja, UN Coordinator, Mohamed Malick Fall, don open mouth yarn say dis foreign-led aid style wey we dey use no fit work again. Hunger no dey waste time, and the people wey dey suffer no get time for negotiation. Conditions for Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states dey critical, as violence dey increase like virus for them places.
According to the UN, suicide bombings don rise, and more than 4,000 people don lose their life just for 2025 alone. Na wetin be all these figures if no be that innocent lives dey suffer? Naija gatz wake up before we enter worse wahala.
As e be now, dem dey plan to raise about $516 million to support 2.5 million people wey dey in need this year. Last year, no be small money dem get, but dem funds don fall sharply. This one fit make many children begin dey hungry as World Food Programme don cut support for over 300,000 children too. We no fit allow dis kind thing happen!
Fall don also suggest say Naija gatz take charge of their own humanitarian response. E mean say, the government and humanitarian partners gatz come together join hand dey work like one body. Wetin dem go do? E be to improve food aid, healthcare, water, and protection services. Dis one no mean say we go fit just sit down dey wait for international help alone.
As we dey face dis hunger matter, the Federal Government don budget N206.50 billion for poverty alleviation this year. But when you check am, e no reach even one per cent of the total budget wey dey about N58.47 trillion. Dis one no fit carry us far because like World Bank talk, almost 139 million Nigerians dey live below poverty line. Na wetin we go do to change dis matter?
If we no do something sharp, waka go dey hard, because projections say dis number fit climb to 141 million by end of 2026. No bi joke o! If indomie no dey get belleful of people, we gatz begin dek chop the tin wey government dey produce!
Now, e remain to see how all dem plans go work out, but one thing clear be say we need everybody to put hand for ground to tackle dis hunger wahala. If we no come together now, dem fit dey overcome us, and that one no go funny at all!
