This crash happen around 2:30 pm for Wednesday, near Badejo town for Potiskum local government area. Eyewitnesses dey yarn say this truck no dey slow down, e just dey carry high speed like say dem dey run from ghosts before e lose control come fly jam people wey dey sit down for roadside.
Paul Andrew, the guy wey dey run the Federal Road Safety Corps for that area, confirm the gist to The PUNCH. He come talk say, “The crash happen for 2:30 pm near Badejo town along the Gombe–Potiskum expressway, and na canter vehicle wey ram into people sit down for roadside, causing wahala.”
He carry small gist come follow am talk say, the investigation wey dem don do show say overloading and speed wey dey pass normal na wetin cause this koko. Na so di driver no fit control di canter when e dey enter that busy road.
As e be, that day na market day for Potiskum cattle market, so plenty people and vehicles dey waka for that road. Paul Andrew talk say, “Di canter dey head for market because na market day, plenty movement dey happen for that road. Na so we suppose dey careful, but overloading and speed no gree drivers hear word.”
He also talk about how di emergency team dey respond, say dem quickly carry di injured people go hospital for treatment, and dem don carry di dead ones out. Dem clear di road quickly too make sure say no be so wahala go happen again. E don urge all drivers make dem stop di overloading and speed matter, especially for market days to avoid unnecessary loss of life.
The Gombe–Potiskum Road na major highway for North-East Nigeria, and e dey always full with vehicles and roadside activity, especially on market days. So my people, make we all dey careful, because life no get duplicate.
