My people, make we gist about wetin dey happen for obodo Naija!
The Developmental Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) don drop some heavy gist! Them come dey talk say our federal system wahala no dey help the states at all. Seye Oyeleye, wey be the DG of DAWN, yarn this for one program wey dem call ‘Guest Of The Month’ for Oyo State Broadcasting Corporation.
According to am, since wey Nigeria disband the colonization and waka enter independence, e don be like say our federal structure dey drag us back. Oyeleye talk say the system no dey show true federalism, instead e dey resemble unitary system wey no dey allow states utilize their own resources.
“See ehn, the federal government dey control wetin no be dem own! Dem no get land, but dem dey hold ground and the returns wey dey come from am. Na so states dey suffer since dem dey collect small federal allocation every month, wey no fit do much,” Oyeleye explain.
This matter no be small o! E mean say many roads wey dem tag as federal roads for South-West dey suffer, and this one dey affect the socio-economic growth of the states. Dem roads dey bad, people no fit move well, and businesses dey suffer join!
Oyeleye chop down any notion say e go better without strong governance. Him dey call for make state governors dey fit manage their own resources and security. If dem fit do am, citizens go fit hold dem accountable, and this one go reduce criminality for Naija!
Na why dem dey shout for state police wey dey shelve for National Assembly. Oyeleye believe say if dem fit implement am well, e go help tackle banditry and all these security wahala wey dey face us. E dey stress say movement of people from one state to another no fit stop but wetin we need na effective security system wey go cover everywhere.
Nahim make the DG dey encourage South-West governors to join hands together, tightify security for the zone. He don talk say the six governors from that side suppose follow the same pattern wey dem follow to create Amotekun—a security network to protect the region. Na teamwork go fit help wey all of us dey look for!
