Naija Sugar Project Don Set for Big Gbangba!

My people, gather here make I yarn wetin dey happen for our sugar industry!

Na so dem talk say greenfield sugar projects go help we close the gap wey dey for sugar production for Naija. Wetin be greenfield projects? Na dem big, new sugar farms wey dey carry big investors wey sabi wetin dem dey do. Naija no wan carry last for sugar matter!

Dem don sign Memoranda of Understanding with four serious investors. E mean say na proper investments we dey talk about. Dem go combine sugarcane farming with modern processing, and at full operation, dem dey expect about 400,000 metric tonnes of sugar yearly. This one go sweet our economy well well because e go create job, infrastructure, and business opportunities for our people.

And no be just for one area o, dem dey plan this sugar projects across South-West, North-Central, and North-East. So, every corner go benefit! Na community-anchored approach dem dey use, wey mean say e dey sustainable and go fit bring lasting value.

For instance, GNAL Sugar from Lee Group dey operate for Taraba State. Wetin dey happen there? E be like say work dey flow as Taraba don show strong commitment to this project. Dem don already identify local government areas for sugarcane farming and processing. Na serious matter dis!

Now, why Taraba wey get the chance? Dem check many states and Taraba come out because e get plenty land, good water, and the weather dey favour sugarcane. Plus, the government for Taraba don show strong interest to collaborate with the investors.

But wetin about seedcane supply? Na big issue! Na why NSDC don set up seedcane farms to make sure say we no dey depend on import. Plus, dem dey use technology wey go help multiply good planting materials faster. This one go make sure say farmers fit get quality seeds to plant.

The Nigeria Sugar Institute dey do plenty things too. E don become national backbone for research, training and all sugar-related matters since 2019. As we dey talk, dem don train over 60 staff to make sure say NSI fit support the sugar industry well well.

Di new Sugarcane Outgrower Development Programme (SODP) don land as well. Feedback don dey come wey show say farmers wan join the sugar value chain. Di programme dey link farmers directly to sugar processors, so dem no go dey struggle alone anymore. Dis one dey show say we dey move from planning to real implementation.

Last year, NSDC don enter $1bn partnership with SINOMACH. Na big deal this partnership, because e go take Nigeria sugar industry to serious level. E go help dem produce up to 500,000 metric tonnes of sugar every year.

For so much wey dey happen, NSDC dey make sure say everything dey align properly. Dem don set coordination framework with SINOMACH and dey address any issue wey fit delay the projects. Na serious business we dey talk here, and dem don start work. Booms are coming!
