Na Mr. Jimenda Gideon, di PRO of di school, wey sign di letter wey clear dis matter. E come dey talk say di report no even follow basic journalistic standards like fairness and verification. According to wetin dem talk, di wahala wey some students dey face no be because of di school wahala. Na poor academic performance and disciplinary issues dey ground am.
Dem talk say some students dey absent for lecture and dey too late to come class. Na dem issues go cause di low pass rate in dem exams o! For di Midwifery exam last year, 141 students sit down for di exam, and only 58 pass. Na only 41% wey pass, my guys! How dem go expect to pass when dem no show face for class?
For di Nursing exam, e no better either. 277 students sit for di exam, and only 111 pass, which na 40%. For Community Nursing, e worse pass, only 20% pass. Di management come yan say all dis low scores show say di students no prepare well, and no be dem make di exam o! Na Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria dey set di exams, so management no get hand for di matter.
Dem also talk say if students no fit meet di minimum attendance wey be 75% for lectures and clinicals, dem no go fit rewrite di final exams. Dem gree say students wey need extra semester go still pay fees wey dey approved. Na serious matter o!
Instead of dem follow di rules, some students don dey threaten to protest. Di management no fit keep quiet and don report di matter to di Ministries of Health and Tertiary Education. Them dey follow di rules wey dey clear inside di Students’ Handbook, say if person dey absent for more than 28 days, dem go demote am. E get why dem dey enforce di policies wella!
Dem come talk say all di fees wey dem dey collect na standard fees wey follow di Taraba State Government free education policy. E no be exploitation at all!
