As dem talk am, inflation rate for November be 14.45 percent, so dis new figure na wetin we fit call ‘small wahala’ wey dey come on top of the old wahala. Abi you don see any food wey dem no dey increase price? Na wetin we dey talk here!
Statistican General of the Federation, Adeyemi Adeniran, con explain say the CPI wey dem carry come now different from the ones wey dem dey use before. Dem don change the base year to 2024 and na average for 2023 dem dey use as reference. Dis one mean say person wey no sabi dey go gree say all dis calculations fit confuse am small.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages na di major reasons wey cause dis inflation rise, dem carry 6.06 percent contribution come dey add to di total. Other categories like Restaurants & Accommodation Services join for 1.96 percent while Transport bring 1.62 percent. E no easy at all, my people!
But no be all bad news we carry, sha! For dis month, food inflation sabi don drop to 10.84 percent compared to last month when e dey 11.08 percent. Person fit ask wetin cause am, na di price of tomatoes, garri, and other essential food items wey don start to dey fall back small. Na only God go know wetin dey happen!
Core inflation wey remove all di volatile goods like food and energy still dey high at 18.63 percent for year-on-year. Month-on-month, core inflation na just 0.58 percent, wey dey show say e dey come down small as well. Na so inflation dey fight back, but e still get level wey e dey.
As we dey look across states, na Abia, Ogun, and Katsina nab dem carry di highest inflation on Year-on-Year basis wey dey reach 19.03 percent, 18.80 percent, and 18.66 percent respectively. Wetin you think say dey happen for those places? E no easy for dem at all!
On di other hand, Sokoto, Plateau, and Kaduna dey sample di lowest inflation rates wey be 8.61 percent, 9.05 percent, and 10.38 percent. Na hin we see say some states dey balance well while others dey struggle for ground. For food inflation, na Yobe dey rise pass for year-on-year with 15.25 percent while Akwa Ibom and Sokoto dey manage low rates.
