My people, make una gather here! Big things just happen for Kaduna State, as over 600 youths don graduate from one free skills acquisition programme wey Mercy Angel Foundation organise. E no be small matter o! This one na part of the efforts wey the foundation dey push to help dem young people stand on their own, chop better food and solve the unemployment wahala.
The graduation ceremony wey happen for Saturday attract plenty important people including traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community stakeholders. Na from Kaduna North, South, Chikun Local Government Area and some nearby community dem come from. Na Rev. Tunde Bolanta, wey be the founder of the foundation, talk say dem design the whole initiative to sabi marketable skills wey go fit help dem become self-dependent. No be to dey under the pepper-soup joint all day!
As dem dey train the youths, almost 1,200 folks dey involved in different batches, so you fit see say this programme dey carry weight. And as the current class just graduate, Bolanta talk say dem go still dey train people, and e dey completely free. “If person need the training, make dem come shine their eye, we dey open gate for dem,” e yarn.
No forget say dem dey train the graduates for plenty skills like fashion design, baking, hairdressing and more. Bolanta add say this initiative no be small play; na part of 18-month project to check unemployment, poverty, and all those bad things wey dey call social vices like crime and drug wahala.
Bolanta no dem shy at all, as e tell dem say dem wish fit give sewing machines to over 400 graduates but wahala dey for resources. But no worry, he don set small loan scheme wey go help those wey qualify. Traditional and religious leaders go help identify people wey fit collect the loan support. “I be Kaduna native, and I dey try restore the peace and unity wey Kaduna don dey miss for long,” e conclude.
Sheikh Nuraini Ashafa, wey be Co-Coordinator of Interfaith Mediation Centre, also show support for Mercy Angel Foundation. E talk say this initiative na “bridge-building in action” and e dey very important for a city like Kaduna wey don dey face ethno-religious tensions. “Talk plenty, but action dey rare. Wetin we dey see here today na action, we no dey talk am alone,” Ashafa burst out.
The wahala for bad governance dey worry people for Kaduna as Ashafa lament say dem dey create artificial poverty. Youths dey suffer pass because dem dey face wahala with education, health and economic systems.
