City, Kano, Nigeria — E be like say politics no fit sleep for Kano as former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje don announce plan to launch independent security group wey dem dey call Hisbah Fisabilillah. Di news don scatter ground as many dey call am controversial. Wetin we go call am if no be serious matter? (But you know say this na Naija, gist plenty.)
Dem don even kick-start di process already, with massive recruitment from 44 local government areas. E be like dem no wan hear say Ganduje don bring back dem Hisbah, wey dey provoke mixed reactions across di state. Some people, dem dey happy, say dem go fit help community. Others dey shout say na wah! Dis new group fit bring wahala.
Malam Muhammad Garba, wey be former information commissioner for Kano, don come out dey justify di move. E talk say dem just wan help community by providing assistance, especially for Ganduje Foundation wey dey focus on charitable works. (See as di matter dey spicy now.)
But government still dey vex, saying Ganduje no fit just come establish own Hisbah while di state get di original one wey pass through democracy. Dem insist say dis na law matter, no fit dey play politics with security, especially with di history of agitations for Kano.
Malam Garba even talk say, “We no dey try bring another group to clash with di existing Hisbah.” E mean say make everybody cool down, no be every security matter we go just dey gumbal. Di current administration no gree enter remainder “abracadabra” of Ganduje security.
Di tension dey rise high as some groups don dey threaten to take matter go court if Ganduje no gree pack dat Hisbah back. Ibrahim Al-Amin Little, a former gubernatorial candidate, don show concern say dis move fit just open floodgate for all kinds of new security groups wey go dey pose risk for di peace wey dey currently dey reign. On top dat matter, court and law experts don dey talk say Ganduje get no right for dis separate Hisbah, since di law committee don provide for di existing one. Lawyer Sadiq Sabo Kurawa don come out dey chuk mouth, yan say di constitution dey clear about who fit form security groups and di responsibility no dey on individual but federal government.
Government for Kano facin big pressure from all sides to take action against Ganduje after he don dey provoke comments wey dey go against di peace of di state. Di Commissioner of Information don make clear say any attempt for unauthorized security group go face di full force of di law. (Who sabi if Ganduje dey plan some drama?)
