LAGOS, Nigeria — Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) don receive Corporate Merit Award from Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) for being the best producer of chartered accountants for 2025. This recognition happen during ICAN 2025 Award and Dinner Night, wey happen for Lekki, Lagos State, on Saturday.
Mr. Adekunle Adams, Head of Public Relations Unit for Yabatech, talk say ICAN do am because dem dey significant for the accounting professional space and also because dem first hold professional examination for the college.
Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, the Rector of Yabatech, dey appreciate ICAN for the recognition. “We dey humble by this award. We go continue to support development for accounting profession,” Abdul talk after he collect the award from ICAN President, Mr. Davidson Alaribe.
Alaribe, wey be 60th President of ICAN and also graduate of Yabatech, say di award no be only recognition but na motivation to push Yabatech make dem do even more. “We must continue to raise the bar for the profession,” he add.
The event witness prominent figures like Oba George Majekodunmi Okufi, the first indigenous Rector of Yabatech and also the first Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of ICAN. Dem also give awards to other notable people, including Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State and Babcock University’s President and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo.
