Na big news for West Africa today as WAEC don finally release the 2026 WASSCE results for private candidates wey write the first series exam. The ting drop on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, and e don make plenty students dey rush to check their fate online.
According to the official statement wey WAEC release, about 23,410 candidates register for the exam. Out of this number, 9,980 na men and 13,430 na women. But wait o, 746 candidates wey register no show up for the exam at all. Na wa o.
Now, the real gist dey for how students perform. For English Language, about 55.94 percent of candidates get grades from A1 to C6. That one no too bad. But when you come to Core Mathematics, the story change. Only 37.84 percent manage to pass with A1 to C6. The rest? Dem fail well well.
Integrated Science sef no better pass. Just 28.13 percent get good grades. The failure rate for that subject reach 40.06 percent. Na serious matter be that.
But Social Studies come save the day small. For that subject, about 75.10 percent of candidates get good grades. Na the only core subject wey show better performance.
WAEC Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, talk say candidates fit check their results online through the official portal. Dem dey warn students to avoid fraudsters wey dey claim say dem fit upgrade results for money. WAEC say their database secure well well.
Another wahala wey WAEC mention na exam malpractice. The council catch some students wey try to cheat. Because of that, dem withhold subject results for 76 candidates and entire results for 87 candidates. These ones go need to follow proper channel to clear their names.
To check results, candidates need to buy WAEC result checker PIN. Dem fit dial *713*3998# or visit the official website. After get the PIN, dem go enter their index number and other details for the portal.
The council advise schools and organizations wey wan verify results to use the official confirmation service. No make anybody deceive una with fake results o.
For students wey results don withheld, WAEC say dem should visit the irregularity page for the website to see why and wetin to do next. The investigation still dey go on.
As at now, students dey check their results up and down. Some dey happy, some dey cry. But WAEC don remind everybody say this na provisional results. Final results go come later after all investigations finish.
The council thank all stakeholders wey help make the exam and marking process successful. Dem promise say dem go continue to maintain standard for West African education.
