Ahmed Yayari Mohammed, the new factional acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), don explain why him dey appointed for the position. According to Mohammed, him was appointed to bring back hope to the party and its members.
Mohammed talk say the national working committee (NWC) of the party choose am to “rekindle the hope and aspirations” of party members. Him say the party dey go through serious crisis and internal conflicts wey don dey affect the party’s effectiveness as a strong opposition force in Nigerian politics.
During his inaugural address to party members in Abuja on Sunday, Mohammed thank everyone for the support him receive and acknowledge say the party need to look inward and correct some things. Him emphasize say the party must return to the principles of equity, fairness, and justice wey the party founders establish.
Mohammed promise to follow the party’s constitution strictly and ensure fair treatment for all members, no matter their position. Him also announce plans to hold the long-awaited National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on October 24, 2024.
He urge the North Central Zone to quickly nominate a replacement for former National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu so NEC can consider the nominee. Mohammed call for collaboration among all party organs, including the PDP Governors’ Forum and the Board of Trustees, to work together and present a united front.
Mohammed say his leadership aim to make Nigerians believe in PDP again as a credible alternative and to uphold the party’s historical legacy during its time in government.
