As de world celebrate World Polio Day for 2024, de wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, don urge nursing mothers to make sure dem sustain de vaccination of their children.
Mrs. Soludo make dis appeal when she dey speak to journalists after she administer poliomyelitis vaccine to some babies at Amawbia Primary Healthcare Centre in Amawbia-Awka. Dis be part of de activities to commemorate World Polio Day.
According to her, Anambra State no record any case of poliomyelitis for de past ten years, and she attribute dis success to de cooperation of Anambra women in giving greater attention to their children’s health.
“Vaccination be de key to complete eradication. Get your children vaccinated and give dem de gift of life by preventing polio,” she say.
Mrs Soludo commend de State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, World Health Organisation (WHO), de management of de Nonye Soludo Healthy Living Initiative, and other health partners for their continuous advocacy for healthy living. She assure say her husband, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, go continue to work tirelessly to ensure say de virus be completely eradicated in Anambra State.
In his brief speech, Commissioner for Health Dr Obidike assure say de state government go do everything humanly possible to sustain de measures used in curtailing de spread of de virus in de state.
De event be organised by de State Ministry of Health in collaboration with WHO and feature a road walk accompanied by Rotary International, Awka District.
