Blinken make dis statement on Wednesday as he prepare to leave for Saudi Arabia, which be the second stop on his diplomatic tour of the region. He meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog on Tuesday, where he reiterate Washington‘s “ironclad commitment” to Israel’s security but also urge Israel to work towards a ceasefire.
The situation in Gaza dey very critical, as Israeli armored vehicles don target a school in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, which had been converted into a refuge. Dis attack result in the death of at least seven Palestinians, according to reports from Wafa news agency. Palestinians escaping from Beit Lahiya also report seeing corpses scattered on the streets and Israeli soldiers apprehending and assaulting men.
Blinken emphasize the importance of prioritizing the safe return of the remaining 101 hostages, both Israeli and foreign, and bringing an end to the hostilities. He say, “This is the moment to transform those victories into a lasting strategic achievement.”
The US Secretary of State also urge Israel to enhance efforts to ensure that essential humanitarian assistance reach those enduring harsh living conditions in Gaza. He reassure that the US stance against any form of Israeli occupation of Gaza remains firm, and that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has confirmed there are no such intentions.
