The Trade Union Congress (TUC) don dey beg the federal government to bring back the fuel price to how it was in June 2023. This demand come after the recent hike in fuel prices which don cause plenty wahala for Nigerians.
According to reports, the price of petrol don increase sharply, with NNPC selling petrol to marketers at N1,010 per litre in Lagos, N1,045 in Calabar, N1,050 in Port Harcourt, and N1,040 in Warri. This price hike be the second in one month and it has risen by over 430 per cent since the current administration take over power in May 2023.
TUC dey argue say the high fuel price dey affect the economy and the lives of ordinary Nigerians. They also suggest that the federal government should subsidise crude oil for the Dangote Refinery to help reduce the fuel prices.
The Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) chair, Abubakar Garima, also talk say the marketers have outstanding debts with NNPC and that they are finding it hard to buy fuel at the new prices. Garima explain say NNPC buy fuel from Dangote Refinery at a lower price but dey sell am to marketers at a higher price, which be a big challenge for them.
