Tinubu dey Commit to End Hunger Crisis – River Basin Boss

According to the River Basin Development Authorities boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to ending the hunger crisis in Nigeria. This commitment comes at a time when the country is grappling with severe food insecurity and rising inflation.

The River Basin boss emphasized that Tinubu’s efforts are tailored to make the narrative of hunger a thing of the past in the country. This involves various initiatives aimed at improving agricultural productivity and ensuring food availability.

However, despite these commitments, Nigerians are still facing significant hardships. The recent increase in petrol prices from N865 per litre to N1,030 per litre has exacerbated the economic woes, leading to soaring food prices and high unemployment rates. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has reported substantial increases in the prices of staple foods such as yam and garri, further complicating the food security situation.

The government’s reforms have been criticized for being out of tune with the people’s needs, with inflation escalating for 13 consecutive months. The Naira’s value has also plummeted, exchanging at an average of N1,700 to the dollar, down from N460 in May 2023.

Critics argue that the government needs to adopt more effective strategies to tame inflation, reflate the economy, and mitigate the hardship faced by Nigerians. There is a call for the government to focus on home-grown solutions rather than relying on international dictates and to take urgent steps to avoid further protests from labour and the people.
