President Bola Tinubu don announce new ministers for his cabinet, and among dem be Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu. She go serve as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Dis announcement come after Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
Tinubu also sack six ministers from his cabinet, including Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye, who be Minister of Women Affairs, Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism, Prof. Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development, and Beta Edu, who be Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction but was already suspended.
The presidency also abolish some ministries and merge others. Ministry of Niger Delta and Ministry of Sports Development don dey scrapped. Ministry of Niger Delta, wey start work for February 2009, go dey under new Ministry of Regional Development now. Ministry of Sports Development responsibilities don transfer to National Sports Commission.
Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy don merge to become Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy. Lola Ade-John, who be former Minister of Tourism, no go lead dis new ministry again because Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, who be former head of Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, go work together with new team.
Other new appointments include Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, replacing Beta Edu; Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim as Minister of Women Affairs; Ayodele Olawande as Minister for Youth Development; and Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite as Minister of State for Finance.
President Tinubu urge all new and reassigned ministers to take their roles serious and focus on driving Nigeria’s growth.
