One man wey dem accuse of fraud don die after he fall into one canal in Lagos while he dey run away from police. The incident happen for Ayobo area of Ipaja, Lagos State.
According to reports from City Round, plain-clothed policemen stop the man on a bike because of his tattoos and accuse am of being ‘Yahoo boy’. The man try to explain himself but the police no believe am, and dem start cocking their guns.
The man, who was unconscious when dem rescue am from the canal, was rushed to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja GRA, where he later die. A friend to the wife of the deceased, Omorhemi, share the story on X.com, saying the police take the man’s slippers and money after he fall into the canal.
Omorhemi write say, ‘Yesterday morning, the police chase my friend’s husband till he fall into the canal. They take his slippers and money that fall and leave when people start shouting.’
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, say he no know about the claim that two policemen have been detained in connection with the incident, but Omorhemi later update say two of the officers have been detained at Area M police station.
Hundeyin say investigation still dey ongoing and anyone with useful information should reach out to them. He also appeal to the public to provide more details about the incident.
