The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) don warn Nigerians to stop patronising uncertified Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) centres. According to SON, using these illegal centres dey pose serious risk to safety and health.
SON make dis alert on October 20, 2024, as part of their efforts to ensure that all CNG centres in Nigeria meet the required standards. Dem advise Nigerians to only use certified CNG stations to avoid any potential hazards.
This warning come at a time when the Nigerian government dey promote the use of CNG as a cleaner and more efficient alternative to traditional fuels. President Bola Tinubu’s CNG Initiative aim to encourage more people to switch to CNG, but SON insist say safety must be the top priority.
SON also remind Nigerians that using certified CNG centres not only ensure their safety but also help to maintain the quality of the CNG being used. Dem urge everyone to report any illegal CNG centre to the appropriate authorities.
