Biya, wey be 91 years old, appear on television at Yaounde airport, shaking hands with officials and standing beside him wife, Chantal. Supporters wey wear clothes with him picture and carry banners welcome am as him land.
Rumors about Biya’s health start after him last appear in public at China-Africa summit in Beijing last month. Since den, him no attend important gatherings like United Nations General Assembly and International Organization of La Francophonie summit in France.
Biya, wey be Africa’s second-longest-serving leader and Cameroon’s second president since independence in 1960, don dey in power since 1982. Him government dey face many challenges, including secessionist movement in English-speaking provinces and Islamic extremist violence from Boko Haram group based in Nigeria.
Before him return, government ban public discussion on him health status, but now say him return go put end to all speculation. Supporters line up along 22-kilometer route from airport to presidential palace, carrying banners and welcoming him back home.
