Calabar, Cross River State – OPay don finally burst through for education matter as dem don sign MoU with University of Calabar (UNICAL) for dem 10-Year Scholarship Programme wey go make plenty students shine!
Dem signing ceremony happen for Vice Chancellor’s office on Wednesday, and e no be small thing. OPay gree support 20 students wey dey perform well for UNICAL, each of dem go collect ₦300,000 yearly. Na big money be that, totaling ₦6 million for this year alone. E no fit get better timing than this for the students wey dey face financial wahala. (Dem no go need to dey chop garri like say na three square meal again!)
This initiative na part of OPay’s ₦1.2 billion scholarship scheme wey go reach 400 students for 20 Nigerian tertiary institutions within ten years. Fada Lord! Na serious commitment dem dey show. IK Odiase, wey be Head of Partnerships for OPay, talk say dis scholarship no be just about money. Na stepping stone to better future, as dem go dey open doors for internship and job placement wey go help students hustle well well.
Itoro Udo, wey dey manage Community Social Responsibility (CSR) for OPay also talk say dis one na just the start. E no be end of story! Dem dey plan bigger things wey go help students and the school in long run (na like when dem dey chop jollof rice for wedding, plenty to come!).
The Marketing Manager, Rhenua Adebo, also gree say dem don dey engage students already. Dem want make the students see dem padi wey dey benefit from the scholarships and feel motivated. “Scholarships na just the starting point,” e talk. “We dey think about their overall growth, including sports, digital skills, and general visibility for campus.”
UNICAL’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, no leave di matter without comment. She praise OPay for dis initiative wey be like timely help for students wey dey struggle. She even talk say plenty students dey defer or drop out because dem no fit pay school fees. OPay’s support go help dem stay for school and succeed. (Na dis kind support wey go make students dey rush come school like dem dey chase after shawarma!).
