Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, recently celebrated his 50th birthday in a grand ceremony that drew attention from across Nigeria. Born on October 17, 1974, into the Giesi Ruling House of Ile-Ife, Oba Ogunwusi has marked a significant milestone in his life and reign as the 51st Ooni of Ife.
The celebration was attended by several dignitaries, including Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, who surprised many with his presence. The event highlighted the Ooni’s impact on Nigerian society, particularly his efforts in promoting unity and cultural preservation. Oba Ogunwusi has been praised for his role in building bridges across ethno-cultural divides and celebrating Nigeria’s diversity.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) also congratulated the Ooni on his birthday, acknowledging his profound commitment to peace, cultural preservation, and the upliftment of the people. CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, commended Oba Ogunwusi’s leadership and his efforts in fostering interfaith harmony and intercultural cooperation.
Oba Ogunwusi’s educational background includes his early education in Ife and Ibadan, where he received his Secondary School Certificate and later obtained his accountancy certification from The Polytechnic, Ibadan. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and holds honorary doctorate degrees from several universities.
