Norwich City don announce the appointment of Jack Wilshere as their new first-team coach. This news come out on October 23, 2024, and it mark a new chapter in Wilshere’s coaching career.
Wilshere, wey be former Arsenal and West Ham United midfielder, leave his role as Arsenal’s Under-18 manager to join Norwich City. He go join the backroom staff of Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup, as the Canaries dey seek promotion to the Premier League.
In a statement, Wilshere talk say, “I’m delighted to be joining Norwich City. It is a fantastic opportunity at a very impressive club, and one which has come at the right time to progress my coaching career within a first-team environment.” He also praise the club’s vision, plans, and facilities, saying, “I’ve heard a lot about the environment around the club, and the facilities at the training centre are first class”.
Norwich sporting director Ben Knapper also express his excitement about Wilshere’s appointment. He say, “We are delighted to welcome Jack to Norwich City. He is of course someone I know well, and his personality, knowledge and experience will all be huge assets for us”.
Wilshere, who retire from playing in 2022 at the age of 30, know Knapper from his time as Arsenal’s loans manager. Knapper add say, “His passion for coaching, and football more broadly, is huge, and he has a natural ability to connect with people. That combined with his desire to push and develop both himself and those around him are key attributes that we look forward to harnessing”.
Norwich City currently dey seventh in the Championship, just one point outside the play-off places. They next game be against Middlesbrough on Sunday.
