NNPCL Don Slash Petrol Price Again, Na Wetin Dey Happen?

Abuja, Nigeria – E be like say NNPCL wan make people smile small small as dem don reduce petrol price from N945 to N910 per litre. Na Saturday, July 5, 2025, dem do am for Abuja wey get mouth like sharp knife for Zone 6, Kubwa Expressway, Wuse Zone 4, and even more areas.

Dis new price na N35 drop (see as dem dey show off) from di old price. E follow wetin Dangote Refinery do earlier wey reduce dem own price from N880 to N840 per litre. Na global crude oil prices fall wey dem say na im cause dis sweet change for our wallets.

But no be everybody dey happy, oh! Some marketers still dey hold on to dem old price because dem no fit sell at loss (abi dem wan play chop-and-clean-mouth?). According to wetin dem talk, marketers wey go reduce dem price need to finish dem old stock wey dem buy on top N900 per litre before dem fit reason about new price.

Meanwhile, alongside Abuja, Lagos still dey struggle with prices wey dey swing like pendulum. Some filling stations still dey charge N925 for petrol even as Dangote don chop N40 from dem prices. This one don confuse people, no be say na value wey dem suppose dey enjoy?

According to Anthony Chiejina wey na the Chief Corporate Communications Officer for Dangote Group, dem dey work on one new plan to boost market competition aim sabi say na win-win be di aim. Dem wan use CNG tankers to distribute petrol directly from dem refinery. Dis one go help alleviate the stress for corners wey dey face fuel since e go reach more people.

Chiejina yan say, “Na to improve our logistics costs we dey do dis, plus we want make energy dey available for everybody,” so we fit chillax small and no suffer too much.

But wetin be dis new distribution plan? Dem dey prepare to launch CNG tankers to supply filling stations, telecom operators, and even airports on August 15 – like mini FIFA World Cup for petrol supply. Dem dey target to open over 100 CNG refueling stations wey go make fuel dey more available.

Wetin we go do now? E go be like say competition dey hot for fuel market, but no be we dey see prices dey shift about like dance for party? Dem dey say e fit take sometime before dem cutting price phenomenon reflect for everybody wey dey buy fuel at di pumps.

For now, as e be, we fit just chill dey watch how dis battle go unfold. The filling stations dey collect N915 for Lagos and N925 for Ogun State, as dem still reason how dem go handle di current market prices wey don dey change like wind. Naija wahala!
