Dis partnership wey dem call Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), e don bring market access wey go benefit plenty Naija goods and professionals. Na for January 2026, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and im UAE counterpart, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, sign am, and even President Bola Tinubu and President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Nahyan dey there to witness as dem shake hand.
For dis agreement, Nigeria go remove tariffs on 6,243 products wey we dey bring from UAE while UAE go release 7,315 products from Naija. Na sure sign say dem wan promote trade wey go boost our economy and help our guys make better money.
The plan be say, Nigeria go remove tariffs on 3,949 products sharp sharp, and den go phase out the rest wey remain over five years. But before you shout jubilation, dem don also exclude 123 products wey no go fit enter tariff removal. Na so dem fit protect our local market, wey the foods, meats and some agricultural products dey.
On the other side, UAE go drop tariffs on 2,805 products immediately, and dem go also phase out the rest wey remain for their own side. But dem gats to hold some products back, like pork and narcotics, you sabi how e be!
This trade agreement no be only about goods, e also get plans to deepen services and investment flow. Naija go fit export services across plenty sectors, and Nigerian business people fit enter UAE market without wahala.
