Nigeria Flamingos Ready to Battle Ecuador for Quarterfinal Spot in U-17 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria Flamingos dey ready to face Ecuador for their second Group A match of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, wey dey hold for Dominican Republic. The match go happen on Saturday at Santiago de Los Caballeros.

Bankole Olowookere’s team start well, as dem thrash New Zealand 4-1 in their opening match on Wednesday. Shakirat Moshood score two goals, while Khadijat Adegoke and Farihat Abdulwahab also find the net. Captain Taiwo Afolabi add the fourth goal before Hannah Saxon pull one back for New Zealand.

Ecuador also win their first match, beating the host country Dominican Republic 2-0. Jaslym Valverde score two goals to give Ecuador the victory.

Both teams get three points each, and a win for either team will take dem to the quarterfinals. Nigeria’s attack, wey be very sharp, go test Ecuador’s defence well.

Coach Bankole Olowookere be happy with how his team play against New Zealand, saying, “It’s a good first game for us. We are taking them as they come, so a good game for us, scoring four goals and only conceding one, so not bad for our first game.”
