Nicaragua don announce say dem dey break diplomatic relations with Israel, according to statement wey dem release on Friday. Dem call Israeli government ‘fascist’ and ‘genocidal’.
The reason for dis break in relations be because of Israel’s attacks on Palestinian territories. Nicaragua’s congress pass resolution earlier in the day, asking dem to take action to mark the one-year anniversary of the Gaza war.
The Nicaraguan government also talk say the conflict no be only for Gaza again, but e dey extend to Lebanon and dey threaten Syria, Yemen, and Iran seriously.
This decision come at a time when Middle East dey on high alert for more regional escalation, especially after Iran launch missiles at Israel on October 1. Iran be ally to Hezbollah, wey be Lebanon-based terrorist group wey Israel dey target in recent deadly attacks.
Nicaragua’s President Daniel Ortega administration also get close ties with Iran. Nicaragua don become isolated in recent years after Ortega crackdown on anti-government protests in 2018, wey human rights groups say leave around 300 people dead.
