NGE, Imo, UNICEF Dey Work Together On Social Projects

The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) don dey collaborate with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Imo state government to tackle socio-economic, political, and environmental challenges for the South-East and South-South regions of Nigeria.

This collaboration dey happen through a two-day workshop scheduled to hold from 23 to 24 October 2024 in Owerri, the Imo State capital. The workshop, which go feature senior editors and media executives from print, electronic, and online media, aim to strengthen the media’s role in driving regional development.

According to the NGE President, Mr. Eze Anaba, and the General Secretary, Dr Iyobosa Uwugiaren, the workshop go focus on how media can raise awareness about pressing issues, amplify marginalized voices, and provide information on social services, policies, and programmes.

The workshop, themed ‘The Media as Partners in Regional Development’, go be chaired by Prof Stella Okunna, a renowned mass communication scholar and Deputy Vice Chancellor of Paul University, Awka. The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, will declare the workshop open, while the NGE President and the Head of UNICEF Office in Nigeria, Ms Cristian Munduate, will co-host the event.

The NGE believe say the media get huge impact in socio-economic and environmental issues by influencing public opinion and policy, mobilizing community action, providing a platform for marginalized voices, facilitating dialogue and debate, and holding power holders accountable.
