Minna, Niger State – E be like say na today make NECO, the National Examinations Council, finally release their 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results. The announcement land on the 17th of September 2025, 54 days after the last paper waka.
NECO Registrar, Prof Ibrahim Wushishi, no carry mouth dey waste as he drop gists for press conference. Out of the 1,358,339 candidates wey show face for the June/July exam, 818,492 (60.26%) don score five credits and above, including Mathematics and English. E mean say plenty students no wan knack their books!
Wushishi talk say total candidates wey register for the exam sabi reach 1,367,210, and na 685,514 be the male candidates while 681,696 na female. But wait oh! Out of dem wey test, 1,358,339 sit down to take the exam, as dem report say na 680,292 Males and 678,047 Females.
As per the whole credits matter, Wushishi highlight say 1,144,496 candidates get five credits and above, no be say dem must include Mathematics and English. Na 84.26% dem represent. (Some padi no go still gree that Maths na wah, e be like say dem never fit use calculator)
Neco don thump their chest say this year’s exam get better vibes than last year. The number of candidates wey catch the ‘exam malpractice’ fever now na 3,878, which be correct reduction from the 10,094 wey chop fine last year. E sweet for dem belly say the rate don drop by 61.58%. Talk about improvement, right?
For 2025, NECO catch 38 schools wey dey do mass cheating for 13 states. Dem go soon call dem for meeting to settle am, and e no go too good for dem. Omo, no be small wahala if your school dey among.
We go hear say some supervisors dey face the music too. Nine supervisors no go fit supervise people again after dem catch their hand for bad behavior, lateness, and all those kinds. (E be like say some people no know say supervision no be shopping spree!)
Wushishi also talk about wahala wey happen for Adamawa where some schools face communal clash wey make dem miss exams from 7th to 25th July. They don start to talk with government to sort out their wahala wey dey affect the examination.
Neco don also yan say dem go run their SSCE on just 38 subjects from 2025 going forward, so that students no go dey wait for results like dem dey wait for their jollof rice.
Looking at the performance by state, Kano waka come first with 68,159 candidates hitting the jackpot, representin’ 5.020% for five credits and above, including English and Mathematics. Lagos follow with 67,007 (4.930%), while Oyo take third with 48,742. Gabon? Abeg, dem no even collect any credit! Talk about owning the bottom of the class.
So, whether you be guru or no, congrats to everybody wey score well. But the real gist? Neco dey also change their exam style from paper to computer-based test. New school vibes, I see you!
