An elder statesman from the Niger Delta, Sokari Soberekon, don dey call for Nigeria to be restructured into six autonomous nations. Him make dis call in an interview with *South-South PUNCH* in Port Harcourt.
Soberekon say President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inherit a sick nation and need to take a cue from the British system of government to fix things. Him suggest say Nigeria should be divided into six zones, each zone being a nation, just like the United Kingdom with Wales, Ireland, Scotland, and England.
“Tinubu inherit a sick nation and all we need is to assist him to build the nation. I’m suggesting restructuring Nigeria into six zones, six nations,” Soberekon explain. “He should restructure this country to six autonomous nations with six presidents with rotating two-year tenure in the office for 12 years.”
Him further explain say each zone go produce one president, and dem go form the Presidential Ruling Council with their Vice Presidents. Whenever one of dem dey leave to Calabar to take their two-year rotating presidency, the Vice President go dey on the seat at home, guarding the home for him.
Soberekon also call for resource control, saying everybody go pay tax to the centre but control what dem have. “Control what you have and then pay tax to the centre, the state will pay tax to the federal. The local government will pay tax to the state government,” him say.
Him also suggest say Nigeria should be renamed Oloibiri to pay homage to the community where oil was first discovered in the country.
