Naija Telcos Subscribers Go De Cry Over 5% Excise Duty

Naija people wey dey use telecom services, including postpaid and prepaid, don begin de cry because of new 5% excise duty wey government wan introduce. Dis duty go affect all telecom services wey Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) dey regulate.

Telcos and their subscribers dey reject dis new duty because dem believe say it go increase cost of communication for Nigerians. Dem argue say dis duty go make life harder for people wey already dey struggle with high cost of living.

Industry stakeholders dey warn say if dis duty take effect, it go lead to increase in tariffs and reduce access to telecom services, especially for poor people. Dem also talk say it go affect economic growth because communication be key part of business and daily life.

As it stand now, subscribers and telcos dey call on government to reconsider dis decision and find other ways to generate revenue without putting more burden on citizens.
