Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS) don release new figures wey show say residents of nine states for Nigeria spend big money on cooking gas. According to dem, between January and September dis year, people for these states spend N312.27 billion on cooking gas.
The states wey dey involved include Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Delta, Rivers, and Cross River. NBS say dis figure show how much people dey rely on cooking gas for their daily cooking needs.
Lagos State top the list with the highest expenditure on cooking gas, spending over N100 billion. Dis follow by Rivers State and Delta State, wey spend significant amounts too.
Experts say the high cost of cooking gas dey due to several factors, including the rise in global prices and the devaluation of the naira. Dis dey affect many Nigerians who depend on cooking gas for their daily meals.
The NBS report also highlight the need for the government to look into alternative energy sources and policies to reduce the cost of cooking gas for the average Nigerian.
