The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) don announce say their $50 million Research and Development Fund dey provide research funds for oil and gas research and development.
The Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Mr Felix Ogbe, make this known on Wednesday for Abuja during the SciBiz 2024 annual conference, which Triple Helix Nigeria organise.
Ogbe, who dey represented by Mr Silas Ajimijaye, General Manager, Research and Development, NCDMB, say funding dey crucial for any meaningful sustainable initiative, and within this context, the fund was created in 2020.
He emphasize the need to harness expertise, leading technologies and best practices of international experts and institutions to strengthen research and innovation potential in Nigeria.
Ogbe also talk about partnerships as a strategic way to enhance local efforts to make Nigeria an important player in global innovation. He mention say the Triple Helix model of Academia, Industry, and Government collaboration dey serve as an appropriate international business framework for turning research into new products and services.
NCDMB plan to onboard more impactful research projects in the upcoming months, in addition to the fourteen applied research projects they presently sponsor at various stages of technological readiness.
Alhaji Abdulmalik Halilu, President of Triple Helix Nigeria, also talk say the transition from education through research to commercialisation dey herald an evolving frontier where academia, industry and government can collaborate under the Triple Helix model.
He say this model go ensure that research transcend the boundaries of laboratories and classrooms to solve real-world problems and foster economic prosperity.
