Legendary Journalist Dr. Doyin Abiola Don Go Meet Baba God

City, Nigeria – Na dem news wey dey make heart break, Dr. Doyin Abiola, dem first female Managing Director and Publisher of National Concord newspapers don pass away. She go collect her wings yesterday around 9:15 PM, wey she been dey 82 years old (Age no be number, but e still dey sweet to reach 100!).

Dr. Abiola no be ordinary person o! She start her journey for journalism for 1969 with Daily Sketch Newspaper, where she get her popular column wey dem dey call Tiro. Na there she dey tackle plenty koko, including gender matter when nobody wan talk am. Talk about bravery! (Somebody go fit carry matchete join us for palm wine when dem see her name, no be small!)

After she don show level, she travel go America for masters degree in Journalism, come back land for Daily Times as Features Writer. She no rest, she rise quick quick to become Group Features Editor because she sabi wetin she de do. PhD no be for play o! She carry am come back from New York, sharp sharp after she finish in 1979.

Then the magic happen! National Concord newspaper wey her husband, Chief MKO Abiola, start, call her join dem as the first daily editor wey be woman. E no stop there; she eventually become Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief in 1986. Na like this she dey set road for plenty women wey dey follow her pattern. She sabi jigi jigi well well, if you see the way she dey run National Concord for more than 30 years (Wahala no go near you if you get her kind mouth!).

Now, she no just dey inspire people for journalism, she also dey work as Chairperson for Awards Nominating panel for Nigerian Media Merit Award. Dem even give am Diamond Award for Media Excellence (DAME) Lifetime Achievement Award for her hard work. She be second woman to collect the award, after Mrs. Omobola Onajide. Talk about legacy na, she no carry play for that side!

As she don waka go, people go remember her for her tireless effort to make sure say media dey flourish in Nigeria. Dr. Doyin Abiola, wey marry MKO Abiola for 1981, dey leave behind heavy weight for media industry. E no just be she don die, but she don leave mark wey go shine for ages to come (Even small pikin go sabi her name for future!).

No be joke, she mastermind plenty mentorship for young journalists wey dey climb the ladder today. She don show say women fit carry big load for any industry – no be only kitchen dem sabi work! (Make we carry better kudos for her as we dey celebrate life wey she don live). We go miss you, Dr. Abiola. Rest well, legend!
