Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources don continue their work to remove buildings wey dey block drainage channels inside the state. This move na part of their plan to tackle the problem of flooding which don become big issue for the area.
According to the commissioner of the ministry, Tokunbo Wahab, operatives from the Drainage Enforcement and Compliance Department, along with security personnel, dey carry out the demolition. Dem focus on System 1 Drainage Channel in Arowojobe Estate.
Wahab talk say the demolition dey necessary to prevent flooding, especially for the areas wey flooding dey happen often. This no be the first time dem dey do this kind thing; in August, dem also demolish buildings wey block System 157 drainage channel along Orchid Road in Eti-Osa area.
Lagos State Government emphasize say dem no go stop the enforcement and restoration of right-of-way for all drainage channels inside the state. Dem want make sure say all buildings wey block waterways dem go clear am.
