Korti Sack Kano Electoral Commission Chair, Five Oda People Over Political Ties

Kano State High Court don sack the Chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), along with five other members, over allegations of political ties. The court ruling, which come out on Tuesday, dey follow a lawsuit filed by some opposition parties in the state.

The lawsuit claim say the KANSIEC members dey too close to the ruling party, and dis one dey compromise their neutrality and ability to conduct free and fair elections. The court agree with the plaintiffs and order the immediate removal of the affected members.

This development dey come at a time when political tensions dey high in Kano State, especially with the recent local government elections. The opposition parties dey allege say the electoral commission no dey independent and dey favor the ruling party.

The court decision dey seen as a victory for democracy and the rule of law in Nigeria. It also dey highlight the need for electoral commissions to remain impartial and independent in their duties.
