JAMB Exams: Students Ready to Fight After Tech Glitches Wreck Results

Lagos, Nigeria — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) don engage top IT experts plus educational assessment professionals to investigate alleged technical glitches wey disturb the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Dis investigation come after many candidates blame these glitches for the mass failure wey show for dis year’s UTME results.

According to JAMB results, out of 1.9 million candidates wey take the exam, about 1.5 million score below 200 out of the total 400 marks. This high failure rate don raise serious concerns among stakeholders and candidates alike. Popular education advocate and CEO of Educare, Alex Onyia, announce say thousands of students don ready to sue JAMB over dis matter.

“Currently, we get 8,391 students wey don submit complaints concerning the glitches for the JAMB 2025 exam,” Onyia post on him X (formerly Twitter) page, @winexv. “We get enough evidence to show say JAMB’s system no dey work well, and e don affect these students’ mental health seriously.”

Onyia dey push for JAMB to make available all students’ mark sheets so dem fit see their results, correct answers, and a way to contest their scores. “The future of these students dey at stake,” he add.

In response to the concerns, JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin release statement on Monday explaining say dem don hire experts to look into their system. He talk say dis investigation be part of a larger system review wey come from wetin dem describe as “unusual complaints” from some states across Nigeria about how the examination dey run.

“We don engage plenty experts, including members from the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners wey be heads of tertiary institutions, the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa, plus other measurement experts and Vice Chancellors,” he talk. He also explain say dis investigation dey part of the board’s yearly post-examination review wey cover all aspects of UTME, from registration to exam conduct and result release.

“If we find say true true there be glitches, we go act fast to put am right, as we dey do anytime wey exam dey happen,” he continue. While JAMB don recognize the complaints, dem emphasize say the issue no dey widespread, as e come from a small number of locations.

Still, JAMB don promise say all candidates go get fair chance, and any valid complaint go dey addressed without delay. During the UTME, candidates wey face verified technical problems usually dey rescheduled for new exam date to ensure fairness.
