Lagos, Nigeria — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) don release exam results for di 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), wey show say 17,025 candidates, dat is 0.88 percent of di total 1,931,467, score 300 and above. According to one statistical report wey PUNCH Online get for Saturday, all di results wey dem release for 2025 represent 100 percent of di candidates wey sit di exam. Dis figure don jamp from last year wey get 1,842,364 results. For comparison, only 8,401 candidates (0.46 percent) score 300 and above in 2024, while just 5,318 (0.35 percent) do am in 2023.
Earlier years show say di number of candidates wey fit score well dey low. For instance, in 2021, only 724 candidates (0.06 percent) fit cross 300 marks, and none in 2014 and 2013. For di category wey involve scores of 250 and above, 117,373 candidates (6.08 percent) achieve am dis year, compared to 77,070 (4.18 percent) in 2024 and 56,736 (3.73 percent) in 2023.
“565,988 candidates or 29.3 percent score 200 and above for di 2025 exam, against 439,961 (24 percent) in 2024 and 355,689 (23.36 percent) in 2023,” di report talk. However, majority of di candidates — 1,365,479 (70.7 percent) — still score below 200, though dis one na slight decrease from 76 percent in 2024.

Recall say di initial results for di 2025 UTME drop on May 9, but on May 14, JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, confirm say di results of 379,997 candidates from 157 centres in Lagos and di South-East get issues due to technical error. Di registrar talk say dem go make di affected candidates retake di exam as di glitch come from faulty server updates wey no allow dem upload candidate responses correctly.
